There're so many goals in this tournament Wink

@Cynara: As far as I know, no one will pay attention to Asian Cup Razz Just hope China can be the champion.

we watched alot of scoring goals in the quarterfinal...
and for the Asian Cup...if we started a thread about it..it will be only me and u..I like to follow all the football tournaments in the world...

Maybe Australia will bring us some fans. Some people here pay great attention to it, coz it's the only cup China can win. While, some totally ignore it. The good side is if u win, u can play in Continental cup.

Mexico - Uruguay

PREVIOUS ENCOUNTERS

Both teams have had very close encounters in the past, with the Mexicans having a slight advantage over the Uruguayans. In their first meeting in 1995 they tied 1-1 in the group stage in Montevideo, Uruguay. In 2004 they fought out a 2-2 draw in Peru, also in the group stage, while in 2001 Mexico won 2-1 in Colombia in the semifinals. Every time both teams clash the match is very well disputed and Saturday’s clash is unlikely to be any different. Although the match will only be played for national honour, both teams have a lot to prove. Uruguay will be trying to demonstrate why they deserved to reach the grand final, while Mexico will be looking to rebound from an unexpected flogging against Argentina.

SO CLOSE…

Uruguay have come so close to reaching the final of the Copa America on several of the last editions, but have always failed to win in the semifinals. For that exact reason they are very experienced when it comes to playing the match for third place. Uruguay will play this match for the third successive time, as previously they played it in 2004 in Peru, and in 2001 in Colombia. In 1999 they reached the final, where they lost out 3-0 against Brazil in Asuncion, Paraguay. Mexico have also played for third place in 1997 in Bolivia and in1999 in Paraguay. In truth both have been of the most consistent teams in the competition, that haven’t lifted the title in recent years. Uruguay last won the title in 1995, while Mexico are still yet to win it.

LETHAL STRIKERS

Despite only scoring once in their first three matches, in the knockout rounds Uruguay proved their efficiency in front of goal, scoring six times. Uruguay’s attack includes players with the calibre of Diego Forlan, Vicente Sanchez, Gonzalo Vargas, Sebastian Abreu, and an injured Alvaro Recoba. Over the years they have changed their attack many times, but it still looks like they get best results with their Forlan-Recoba partnership. While Recoba sets them up, Forlan puts them away. Mexico aren’t bad in attack either. Their strikers may be less renowned around the world, but have demonstrated their quality in the competition. Leading scorer Nery Castillo, who is more Uruguayan than Mexican, leads their attack. Other players that have had an impact are Juan Carlos Cacho, Andres Guardado, Omar Bravo and the great Cuauhtemoc Blanco. These players were unable to make a difference against Argentina in the semifinals, but have helped Mexico score ten times in the competition.
